Hebrews 12:1-2

1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2

What a great reminder of what we have going on around us in our lives. If we look around us we have a great group of people who believe in the Lord Jesus, and they are the ones who can help us through so much in our lives. With their help we can do what the writer of Hebrews states here: "we can lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us." We can put everything aside with others help, and they can lift us up out of the muck and mire because with others help we can be better. However that's not all, we have a race to run too: we have a race of endurance. Being a Christian is not a sprint. No, it's more like an Ultramaration. In any kind of race you have to keep your eyes on the prize. Our prize is Jesus Christ. Jesus set aside the glory of heaven, and went to the cross for us, and is now sitting at the right hand of God!

What a wonderful thought!
AMEN!

1 John 2:21-23

21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

In the grand scheme of things, these verses would seem small. However, when you sit back and think about it, they are not small, they are very large! John says here that he is writing to them because they know the truth. The truth is the most important thing in the world! We need to make sure that we know the truth. The truth is that Jesus Christ is the truth and the only one who brings true salvation into the hearts of man! If you are a liar, then you will deny the fact that Jesus Christ is who He is! We have to make sure that we keep our eyes focused on the truth. If we ever loose sight of the Truth then we are sunk. We need to always acknowledge the Son and the Father in our lives.

Psalm 55:22

22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.  Psalm 55:22

I could not think about a better verse to start this blog with. I actually love this verse because of what the Psalmist is telling us to do as a people of God. He tells us to "cast our burden's on the Lord." What does this mean for us? It means that the things that we are carrying around that are weighing us down and keeping us from our potential that God has for us, we need to give it to Him. The hard part is just that. Letting it go. We are human, and we love to hold on to the things that we deem worthy of our time and energy. But things that weigh us down like the "burden of a horse" are not worth our time and energy.

When we let go of these things, there is a promise that God gives us here. "He will sustain us, he will never allow us (as the righteous ones) to be moved." This means that He will give us everything that we need to succeed in our lives. That doesn't mean that we are going to all be millionaires and have super happy lives. But He will give us the lives that we need for that time! That is what it means to sustain us. He will carry us through. He will also not allow us to be moved. If we are firmly planted on the rock of our salvation, then we will never loose our footing!

Until Next Time...
